§ 33.51. MEMBERSHIP.

  • The Parks and Recreation Commission shall consist of five members who are residents of the city, except one member may be a non-resident who is the owner of property within the city on which real estate taxes are paid. One of the members shall be a member of the City Council.
    (A) All members shall be appointed by the City Council and may be removed by a three-fifths vote of the Council.
    (B) (1) Of the Parks and Recreation Commissioners first appointed, other than the City Council member, one shall be appointed for a one-year term, one shall be appointed for a two-year term, and two shall be appointed for a three-year term. All terms shall expire on February 1 of the appropriate year. Their successors shall be appointed for terms of three years, expiring February 1 of the appropriate year. Both original and successive appointees shall hold their offices until their successors shall be appointed and qualified.
    (2) The City Council member shall serve at the pleasure of the Council. City Council members on the Commission shall terminate upon termination of the office from which Council membership is derived.
    (3) Every appointed member shall before entering upon the discharge of his or her duties take an oath that he or she shall faithfully discharge the duties of his or her office.
    (4) Compensation shall be set by resolution of the City Council.
